I'm not offended by being offered the knowledge of realistic tail placement on cat girls, but I also prefer to avoid realistic tail placement on cat girls.

The tail bone, where tails would naturally go, is quite low. This can be awkward to draw, and can make positioning in things like chairs even more difficult.

Specifically, I'm sitting in a chair with a full back to it with no openings, and I literally don't think I could sit in this chair if I had a fully realistic tail short of opting to sit on the tail itself. I couldn't lazily have it hanging off to the side.

There's also the general issue of clothes. Skirts simply wouldn't be an option.

I place tails where I do for reasons similar to why we can hear "pyew pyew" in a vacuum in Star Trek: It just works better for what I'm doing.

I will also note that I was getting notes on this back in 2002, so this isn't done out of ignorance. It's an artistic choice.

If it really bothers anyone, please keep in mind that a lot of how I draw things wouldn't literally be the case if the characters were physically real. It can fairly be imagined that the tails would be repositioned if rendered photo-realistically.

I'm watching a cooking show and Matty Matheson, Canadian, pronounces fenugreek as "fen-uh-greek." I'm so used to "fen-you-greek" that it startled me for a second.

It made me think about my in-laws who pronounced days of the week with "-dee" instead of "-day." ... Like, Fridee, Toosdee, Sundee. They were from Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia, before moving to central Maryland. But it seemed like they were the only ones who said it like that.

When I first met my husband in 1999, he would say "beh-gel" for bagel and "peh-gan" for pagan. I had no room to talk; I said "pyew-er" for pure and "caw-fee" for coffee.

This makes me remember being made fun of for pronouncing coffee as caw-fee and pure as pyew-er, as I had retained some of my Brooklyn accent when I moved to the DC area. Where Baltimore is pronounced Baldmer sometimes.
